Going to the Goats
Is it my imagination or has it been a weird week?
You wake up one day, drive to the store, and see this out your car window. Hello goats! There are always two Great Pyrenees in their midst protecting their herd, doing what working dogs do. Every few days, when you next go to the store, you see that their fence has moved. Until about a month later when the goats disappear until next year.
Just like roads getting repaved for scheduled maintenance our dry vegetation gets munched — mother nature’s fire protection. You gotta love it. Beats chemicals. If only we could do that for microplastics. Down here they are also using shrimp shells as a replacement for Styrofoam. I’ll save that for another day.
Here in California schools reopened this week too. Too soon! We used to go back to school after Labor Day — the official ‘end of summer’ with Memorial Day the ‘official start.’ Somehow summer became shorter and shorter. Cruel and unusual punishment if you ask me. So, while our world goes to the goats, kids are getting shipped off to classrooms. It is 100 degrees out. Who wants to wear new fall clothes? Poor things.
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about lifelong learning and new tricks for old dogs and all that. I’ve long said the Outsell Leadership Community members — represent a psychographic more than a demographic. It’s fascinating. Members seek to learn; meet new people, track important trends, problem-solve, be better in their roles. They want to avoid being blindsided and invest in themselves and their teams. They want to stay ahead. Learn really. And isn’t that what great information is about? It’s one of our motivations for the Outsell Signature Event, co-produced with JEGI CLARITY and why we host it each year. It’s why we do what we do. To support the planet ‘to know.’
Don’t miss our opening day this year. It alone is worth the price of admission. We have an amazing line-up of speakers who will provide the essential Outlooks needed to navigate the rest of the year and 2025. Whether it’s the economy, geopolitics, M&A and valuations, or the outlook for our industry and where the growth is, (and isn’t) we have you covered. We’ll also address whether our industry is even sustainable and are going to talk about oil and water and the natural resources to power AI. Do we have enough? Come find out. Whether it’s the economy, the outcome of the next election, avoiding war, or reinvigorating sluggish M&A — you’ll leave with the essentials. We promise not to talk about goats or shrimp-shell Styrofoam. Request your invitation.
