I want to extend a special welcome to Grant Hunter and Steve Johnson, founders of Product Growth Leaders, the latest experts to join our expanding partner network. Outsell has known Grant for many years, when he served in the information industry, and then watched his career blossom as an expert, thought leader, speaker, and coach in the arena of product management. Grant affiliated with Pragmatic Marketing and then partnered with Steve, who is renowned in the field, to found their own firm to offer assessment, training, coaching, and advisory to the industry. Steve is an early thought leader in the field and is ahead of his time: He was key to the frameworks that Pragmatic Marketing developed and is a guru in this discipline. Together, they share a kindred philosophy with Outsell about the importance of this function, especially in our industry, and we welcome them to the fold.

Our partnership will focus on three areas. First, Grant and Steve will chair the latest community we’ve launched, the Outsell Product & Technology Council, a peer-to-peer offering for heads of product and their teams that focuses on the unique needs of this important function. Second, they will also advise clients and support consulting projects focused on the function. Finally, we will offer their training and assessment services to our clients while we combine our efforts to bring thought leadership, benchmarks, and best practices into our research agenda. Nowhere else in our industry is there such a depth of vertical research, benchmarks, best practices, training, and advisors on staff to support the product management function.

Product management is near and dear to my heart. It’s a role I love, and one that is the third leg of the stool, working closely with content/editorial/data and the engineering team to bring great solutions to life. The function is vital to the CEO and Head of Strategy and rounds out the ability of a data/information/analytics business to stand up. In fact, we pioneered our own methodology, the Outsell Growth Framework, soon to be updated to a fresh version that shows you how to launch great offerings. Now that work is bolstered by an amazing team of partners who bring their own networks to our clients’ needs.
