Peace Over Profits

I’ve written before about economic willpower and our ability to put our money where our beliefs are. This is the only real way to help the causes we care most about.
For a lot of us, right now, this is focused squarely on the murderous rampage going on in Ukraine — and putting a stop to it. The man who will go unnamed is more dangerous than ever, and by all signs, his behavior will only become more abhorrent.
So, when I saw this article, I had to pass it along. It points out that while over 400 large companies have stopped doing business in or with Russia, there are dozens of others that have refused the call to pull out. In continuing “business as usual,” they are helping fund the Russian war machine.
We must STOP putting our dollars toward any company we believe is walking both sides of the line on this one. Check the information on this page, then make your own list. Make sure it’s posted on your computer, refrigerator, iPhone notes, and dashboard to remind yourself and your family that spending with these companies is a no-no until they get off the line and stand up for what’s right.
And while we are at it, folks, let’s continue putting pressure on goods that come from countries that are walking the line and grinning at us so they can keep their market access open while privately passing on bad information, taking sides, and blaming the west. These countries, which will also go unnamed, don’t deserve a penny from any consumer for any good made there.
Our economic power wields might, and the sooner we get to it, the swifter our impact will be. We can and must vote with our dollars, pounds, euro, yen, etc. Whatever our currency, it’ll talk louder and clearer because, whether we like it or not, on this planet, money talks. Let’s let our spending shout for us, too.
