Getting to Yes & Achieving and Managing Wealth

Getting to Yes & Achieving and Managing Wealth

When we programmed this year’s Outsell Women’s Conference we were doing so against rave reviews from last year and requests for more stories that provide tangible ‘how to’s.’ There is nothing more tangible in managing one’s career than negotiating effectively and managing the wealth you create for yourself. We have heard stories about women not standing up for themselves, doing so based on emotion more than facts, or not bidding for jobs because they don’t have all the skills, unlike men who are prone to diving in 100% skills-alignment be-damned. Are these generalities yes. Stereotypes, even. Negotiating takes facts as well as gravitas and achieving and managing wealth takes the belief that wealth is yours to achieve.

So we decided to put these topics on the docket this year and no two better women than Eve Ellis, Financial Advisor, Portfolio Manager, Morgan Stanley Wealth Management and Kimberly Churches, CEO of American Association of University Women (AAUW). Kim will provide the guidance on getting to yes and Eve will help you manage the benefits you create for yourself once you’ve done so. All kidding aside these are two very accomplished, committed women who are forces in their own right. Eve has taken the proverbial bull by the horns and is a leader in ‘gender-lens investing’ that proves that doing good is good business and leaders to good returns and shareholder value. Kim is a constant advocate for advancing equity for women and girls through research, advocacy and education based on the mission of AAUW and tirelessly advocates for making a meaningful difference. Under her leadership, they have launched AAUW Work Smart Online that makes salary negotiations and competitive access to data tangible and real.

I cannot think of two better women that we are fortunate to have grace our podium on June 6 in New York. As I’ve gotten to know both the conversations have been energizing and dynamic and these are two individuals I cannot wait to get to know even better. With both, as we spoke in prep for the conference, I wished I had a long leisurely dinner to lunch to connect with them longer. I just didn’t want to leave their enthusiasm and commitment and you won’t either.

If you’re running a company and want to improve gender diversity in the c-suite they’ll ensure you appeal to talent with the right programs and offers and values. And if you’re managing your career and taking your own success seriously then they are two don’t miss individuals who will ensure you get to yes and manage the wealth that comes from doing so.
