40/60 — Who Promotes Women

40/60 — Who Promotes Women

For three years in a row, we have surveyed the websites of the industry’s top 350 companies and measured their gender diversity in the C-suite. Shout out to the companies that are putting their metrics where their mouths are and ensuring C-suite gender diversity. These are the companies that will attract talent, demonstrating that there is a career path for aspiring leaders of all stripes and that they are open-minded in determining who has a seat at the table. If you’re not on this list, it’s essential to ask some questions: Why not? What will you do about it? Are you for promoting women? How about setting a goal called 50/50 by 2030?

The companies below have balanced C-suites, with 40–60% splits between female and male. It’s not that hard — and frankly, it’s essential. One leader told me that young women came to her and asked what their chances were for success in their company if the people at the table were all men. What were their prospects for meeting their professional goals based on what they saw as the reality in that company? Some left for places that looked more balanced and where opportunity looked real.

So, there you have it. Gender diversity is not just the right thing to do: It’s good for business. It helps with talent awareness, recruiting, and retention, and we send a shout out to the logos here who measured as balanced in 2018.

Will you be on the list in 2019? Come to the Outsell Women’s Conference on June 6th to find out. The event is all about promoting women, diversity, and inclusion more broadly in our industry. Paint a picture for opportunity by ensuring that who sits at the table looks and feels like the population you serve and the team members you hire.

Congrats again to these companies. Stay tuned for those who are resting at the bottom of the list: those with 80–90% male C-suites. I’ll also tell you about Outsell’s journey on this track. Register today for our upcoming conference; if you’re a leader, bring high-potential leaders from your team, and if you’re an aspiring individual, bring colleagues and your boss. Together, we’ll make a difference.

See you there.
