Organization of Large K-12 Districts
A K-12 assessment vendor was interested in gathering qualitative information on the strategies of large districts. Specifically, the company wanted to understand the organizational structure of large districts, and how assessment products and data are used by large districts.
Key Questions
- How would you describe your district’s organizational structure?
- What role does data have in your district and what strategies are in place to ensure the use of data?
- What is your district’s philosophy regarding assessments?
- Are there other measures (other than assessments) that your district uses to collect data?
Methodology
For this custom inquiry, large districts were defined as districts with enrollment between 30,000 and 100,000 students; enrollment was determined by referencing the most current NCES figures. Eduventures conducted 10 interviews with district leaders including superintendents and assistant superintendents.
